In the last issue, I wrote about one of my favourite reproduction jewellery brands, Bow and Crossbones, so for this issue I thought I would stick with the jewellery theme and introduce you all to a brand that has just launched known simply as Splendette.
Splendette: ‘Mid-century inspired jewellery for modern day kittens’, well that’s what their Facebook page states at least. I love finding out about new companies and this one intrigued me, because I always need ways to spend my money on pretty things so I wondered, what did this company have to offer that others didn’t already sell?
Splendette is a one woman company that takes inspiration from 40s and 50s jewellery and design using modern day materials; they are taking their designs down a different mid-century route, so think chunky hand painted bangles and statement necklaces as well as, ya’ know, the earrings and brooches to match of course!
This season and their first collection sees Tropical and Mexicana influences, with a little bit of bad girl thrown in the mix. There are matching sets, including floral earrings and brooches which you can wear all the pieces as a set or as standalone pieces to go with different outfits.
Or if your day or evening outfits needs jazzing up, you can add beautiful wicker bangles to your wrist to create an exotic Hawaiian feel.
The brand is barely a few months old, but I predict big things for it, with a background in fashion and buying as well as production, the lady behind the brand knows her stuff and clearly has an eye for what women want and what looks good. I’ve already got a little shopping list for Splendette and have my eye on the pastel blue and red bangles, perfect colours for the summer season… what will be on your shopping list?
You can check Splendette out via their website at
www.splendette.com or at up-coming festivals such as The Rockabilly Rave and The Hotrod Hayride.
