Now we’re in autumn, it’s time to start digging out the cool weather staples and prepare to keep up the glamour as the days shorten.
Everyone’s favourite gamine girl, Audrey Hepburn, has so many standard styles to her name she is most likely the easiest to emulate. Lindy Bop have a lovely dress named after her, a style made for evening wear. However, in the main, her style is incredibly accessible and easy to wear every day. I especially like her look during the in between temperatures that autumn brings with it.
As we get to the point where sandals have to be put away, loafers are great option as day wear with pretty much anything. Of course Audrey made them look great with high-waisted slacks, but they would also look lovely with a skirt or dress. These original penny loafers were often seen on Audrey, both on and off-screen.

Team these with the turtle neck sweater and these black trousers by Freddies of Pinewood and you have the perfect smart daywear and easy beatnik evening wear. Or switch it up with a Breton stripe top for another outfit option. This one from H&M is lovely, but again, stripes are everywhere this season!
In Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961) Audrey looked amazing in a simple black sweater and pencil skirt with a belted mac over the top.
These are literally everywhere at the moment so take your pick. I like this one from Marks and Spencer as it is actually waterproof, which is always handy during autumn in England. Pair it with this lovely grey fleck pencil skirt from Vivien of Holloway and a basic black sweater and again you have an ideal outfit for work that will see you through to the evening.

Even though this outfit from Roman Holiday(1953) is summer wear, there’s no reason it can’t be transferred to autumn with the addition of tights and a long sleeve shirt. The shape here is key. A semi fitted shirt with a full skirt and belt will be my go to work outfit this season.
Add a tan coloured belt, preferably a leather one, to break up the monochrome. I just purchased this one from New Look. Then on your feet, opt for a simple kitten heel court shoe or flat ballet pump and you’re Audrey transformation is complete.
