Screen Goddess Summer Style – Part Two

In the first part of this guide I introduced you to some of the key pieces of your screen goddess summer wardrobe (https://inretrospectmagazine.com/dispatches/screen-goddess-summer-style-part-one/), here’s part two.

Marilyn Monroe was most often pictured wearing pencil skirts but one of my favourite looks for her was during her photoshoot at home in Long Island, wearing some lovely full skirt summer dresses. There’s plenty of these style dresses around now with fuller midi skirts for daily wear and paired with either flat ballet pumps or espadrilles.

A couple of my favourites; Emily and Fin have a whole range of beautiful sun dresses in gorgeous fabrics. Keep your eyes peeled in all the high street stores as there’s some beauties about. I spied this lovely white dress in Sainsburys, which is also available in red.

Flat Espadrille by New Look

I’ve just bagged a pair of these classic flat espadrilles from New Look that are available in several colours and look great with shorts or dresses.

And last and with the least coverage, if you manage to make to a London Lido or Brighton beach for a dip, these retro styled one and two pieces will make sure you are up there with Marilyn and Rita. Bettylicious has a lovely selection worth perusing but here’s a classic white number that looks great.

There’s plenty of retro styling options available. Well-worn accessories can help a simple summer dress make you look like an off-duty Hollywood starlet, so don’t be afraid to add a bit of glamour to your day.
