The Mid Century Market

Saturday 12th April 2014
Hammersmith club, London

Every now and again my background as an event photographer leads me to attend some really great little gatherings. One of these was the second of Bettina Scarlett Presents Mid Century Markets, which took place on Saturday 12th April in Hammersmith. The lovely Bettina Scarlett (also known as Ms Bethan Soanes) brought together small sellers and businesses from all over the UK to represent the best in Mid Century wares, both original vintage and reproduction. With a focus on her own passion for the 50s there was a wide spread on offer covering women’s and men’s fashions, hair dressing, music, home-wares, accessories, even tea and cakes!

Although I spent a lot of my time wandering around taking pictures of the market, with a good dash of my beloved portraiture thrown in, I also got to catch up with some old friends, both stall holders and attendees, as well as a good hand-full of people I knew through social media, but had never met. All of this, and the general atmosphere and friendliness of stallholders and attendees alike, made the whole event seem very personal and ‘homely’.

I highly recommend heading along to the next one on Saturday 16th August.
